The promises from the Old Testament are all Yes in Jesus (2 Corinthians 1:20). Luke gives special emphasis in helping us to understand that the key themes of the Old Testament are threads that all come together in Jesus. For example, the prophecies of Isaiah; the hope for a new David-like King; the restoration of Israel; and the inclusion of all nations in God's plan of salvation. Luke clearly locates Jesus' place in world history and wants us to have great confidence in God's inclusive and universal kingdom
